The highlight of the show is the music, which is full of inquisitive nuances and aesthetic vibes from traditional Japanese instruments. Between the punches and kicks, Naruto is a highly immobile picture, with moments of nice scenery.
As far as animation goes, it is virtually non-existent. Sasuke is a far more compelling character than Naruto and his backstory offers episodes worth of material, while Naruto himself is barely illuminated. Protagonists like Naruto only seem sincere during fight scenes where they put on a good 'performance' of sincerity and bravado. Shounen shows like Naruto have no understanding of the 'show don't tell' principle.
By the end of the show, Naruto accepts Sasuke as a brother, but only because we are told, but never shown. He is training to be a ninja in a team of two other youngsters, Sakura (his crush) and Sasuke (his jealous rival). If the show didn't pander to his every need he would have given up in a heartbeat, because spoiled brats like him are impatient.

With lots of much better animated series out there, I don't see the point of wasting time with this one. Seeing a couple of episodes are enough to find out everything that this series have to offer. I also found the characters from this series to be boring and generic (The only ones that I found to be somewhat likable were Kakashi, Rock Lee and Hinata, but most of them were incredibly unlikeable, such as Sasuke, which to my surprise, managed to be even more annoying than Shinji Ikari, one of the worst anime characters ever created) I don't even hate this series, I just find it to be plain and dull. I didn't like very much the characters designs and the animation style (Which is mediocre at best) of this series. While there is certainly some amount of fun in the very first episodes, it quickly turns into something boring and repetitive, with lots of melodrama, bad jokes and endless fighting scenes that are not even funny to watch. But after seeing several episodes, and seeing how the plot was going nowhere and the amount of filler material was beyond anything I could tolerate, I gave up about this series. I look forward to the next series in this saga. I like Garaa a lot as well, it is very hard to have a favorite when there are so many to choose from. The characters that are in this show that are great are to many to list though my favorite has to be the pervy sage Jirya. The show also has very good music as well. All in all though the show is very entertaining. One case had Naruto who is all about training and getting better is seemingly afraid to fight another young ninja Rock Lee. The final few shows after the battle between Naruto and Sauske at times are a bit weak too, as they never had these stories in the manga therefore they sometimes do not really fit in the main flow of the show. The show has a few minor gripes from me, the first few shows in the series seemed to go over a lot of the same things at the beginning of the show chronicling what happened at the end of the previous show, also there are a lot of flashbacks especially in earlier episodes as well.
A friend departs to seemingly join the villain and then you have a few stories not from the manga and it wraps up in a nice story about a group going after Garaa, also not in the manga, but still good. There are other characters here to meet and the show just gets more interesting as they must survive an assault by the sand village and try and find a new leader for the village. You then go on a journey with them as they must take a test to see if they are ready to take the next step up in class of ninja. You get to see him join a team with two other rookie ninja Sauske and Sakura and there teacher Kakashi as they head for a town in trouble from the local mob boss. The characters are what I love most about it as we follow Naruto on his quest from being a goofball with seemingly little talent to someone who could defend his village if need be. After I played that game I just had to watch the show and I am glad I did as it turned out to be a very fun and complete show. This show first grabbed my attention when I saw clips of it in the game for the Xbox 360 called "Naruto: Rise of a Ninja".
